Meenmutty Waterfalls

 

Meenmutty waterfalls are typical type of waterfalls which had gaggling of tourist and nature. Meenmutty waterfalls are the second largest waterfall in Kerala. Located in the dense of Wayanad forest  290 kms from south of Bangalore, Karnataka, south India  and 29 kms from south Kalpetta the district head quarters of Wayanad Kerala.  To reach these mesmerizing waterfalls, there are no direct buses available. One has to get down at Ooty Kalpetta road and start the journey of trekking.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Meenmutty waterfalls are a paradise for trekkers. You can catch any bus going to Bangalore or Calicut city and get down at Ooty Kalpetta road. One have to trek for 2 kms to reach the amazing waterfalls. Drive from Kalpetta to the edge of waterfalls is a great adventure. The winding road to Kalpetta has amazing scenery. The road side is nourished with tea plantations and urban people picking up the tea leaves make the place more beautiful and memorable. As you reach edge of the forest, you hear roar of the waterfalls, the sound of the water dripping on the rocks motivates the trekkers to the Meenmutty waterfalls.

The best time to visit these falls is from November to may. The unique feature of these waterfalls is that the water flows from the heights of 300 meters which makes the view amazing. The cools water flows from the heights and the you can spend hours in the pool down lazing in the water. The climb to the peak of the waterfalls is recommended only for experienced trekkers. You can hire a guide to accompany you. Over night campaign to this place is wonderful.
