of Wayanad and its rich natural resources offer several opportunities for
adventure tourism. The hills, rocks and valley which make the very unique
character of Wayanad, provide a lot catering to the ever increasing demand
of adventure tourists.
Every place is incomplete
without a waterfall. In case of Wayanad Soochippara waterfalls make it
complete. These undiscovered waterfalls are near Meppady. In Malayalam,
Soochi means needle and Para means rock, which is how the name Soochippara
is derived. Senital rock waterfalls which are stretched high fall is in
three stretches, ranging from 100 ft to 300 feet. The three stretches fall
into Meenmutty, Soochippara and kanthanpara. And these combine and flow into
Chaliyar River.
Soojippara is one of the most beautiful places in Wayanad. To reach the
waterfalls you have to cross the green lush tea gardens which take you to
Soochippara. Waterfalls which are a beautiful view can be seen from far. To
reach the waterfall, one has to trek down 2kms through dense equatorial
forest over steep rocks.
